Stanton Hospital Foundation Receives Nearly $9k in Grant Funding

For the second year in a row, the Vancouver-based TB Vets Charitable Foundation (TB Vets) has provided funding through their 2022 Respiratory Grant program to the Stanton Territorial Hospital Foundation (STHF) in the amount of $8,800.00.

As a result of this year’s funding, the Stanton Territorial Hospital will be able to purchase two much-needed Broda Chairs. Critically ill patients can spend a significant amount of time recovering in hospital beds; they can be severely deconditioned and require support to improve posture; alignment; and to reduce the risk of falling when nearing the end of their recovery. The chairs will provide the support required, along with multiple other benefits. For Respiratory Therapists, they will provide the ability to mobilize ventilated patients out of bed that much sooner, spending less time in the Intensive Care Unit.

The grant to the STHF is part of nearly $1 million in funding provided this year by TB Vets to hospitals in British Columbia and Northwest Territories.

Kandys Merola, CEO of TB Vets, explained in a statement that “The need for respiratory equipment remains acute, whether it’s for newborns, emergency situations, or patients suffering from respiratory conditions; and it’s only through our joint efforts that we can ensure the best possible care for every patient.”
