Hay River RCMP say thank you for a ‘spooktacular” success

The 35th edition of Spook-A-Rama Halloween Teen Dance in Hay River was a huge success, thanks to many generous sponsors and volunteers.

Almost 160 grade 8 to 12 students attended the popular annual event, held on October 31st at the Hay River Community Hall, all dressed in their best costumes.

A total of 77 prizes were drawn throughout the evening. Seven larger prizes were drawn at the end of the evening: a laptop, men and women winter jackets, two snowmobile helmets, a smart TV and a trip for two to Edmonton.

Even the food and snacks were donated according to the RCMP.

“The businesses and community groups are so generous to us each year. And every prize we purchase is shopped for in Hay River so the money that is given to us goes right back into the community”  Lynne Buth, the Hay River Detachment Service Assistant and one of the event coordinators said.

The Hay River RCMP want to express their gratitude to all community groups and businesses who made the dance a successful one.

The Hay River RCMP also wants to extend their thank you to Lynne Buth and Cassaundra Lindstrom, both Hay River Detachment Services Assistants, as well as Special Constable Jordan Groenewegen, for coordinating the event.
