NT RCMP Federal Investigations Unit charge one man under CDSA Act

NT RCMP Federal Investigations Unit (FIU) has arrested and charged a man following a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act investigation.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, FIU conducted three search warrants at two apartment buildings on Con Road.

As a result of these searches, FIU arrested 26-year-old Salah Omar, from Grande Prairie, AB.

At the time of his arrest, Salah Omar was at large on a Recognizance after being charged by the Grande Prairie RCMP with alleged drug trafficking offences committed in September 2018.

Salah Omar has been charged with:

  • One count of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • One count of Obstructing a Peace Officer
  • Four counts of Breach of Recognizance

FIU’s investigation remains ongoing and no other details will be provided at this time.

Salah Omar appeared in court in Yellowknife on October 3, 2019.
