Truck that crashed into Sushi Cafe was stolen, RCMP say

The Yellowknife RCMP are still investigating after a truck crashed into Sushi Cafe early on Sunday morning last week.

At this time, their investigation indicates that the vehicle was stolen, but the RCMP don’t believe the incident was intentional to the location.

The white Ford F-150 crashed through the front windows of Sushi Café on Franklin Avenue and caused significant damage to the restaurant. No one was inside the building at the time. The truck was seized by RCMP for further analysis by G Division’s Forensic Identification Section.

In a Facebook post last week, Sushi Cafe said they will be closed until further notice for repairs, but they are looking into conducting business elsewhere.

“In the meantime, we are looking for a temporary location to continue our business,” the post states.

“If you or someone you know has a kitchen that can be on loan please message us on Facebook or email Claudia at [email protected].”

RCMP are continuing to investigate and ask anyone that may have seen the vehicle, a white Ford 150 truck, prior to the incident, in the early morning hours of Sunday July 15th, to please contact the RCMP at 867-669-1111.
