A record number of ice carving teams will be coming to Yellowknife.
15 teams from around the World are scheduled to be in the territory’s capital for the 6th annual De Beers Inspired Ice – International Ice Carving Championship.
The expansion in the event was thanks to an additional $5 000 grant from De Beers.
The diamond company had previously agreed to a five year, $150 000 contract to support the event.
“The increased level of international interest speaks to the reputation of De Beers Inspired Ice as a world-class event,” said De Beers Canada CEO Kim Truter. “We’re looking forward to an amazing festival that will truly put Yellowknife on the world’s ice carving map.”
The Ice Carving Championship will take place during the Long John Jamboree, from March 22nd-25th.
