The Northwest Territories Men’s Basketball Team managed to pick up a win for the first time since the Canada Summer Games began recording online records in 2009.
The 84-68 victory over the Yukon team was carried by a strong first quarter, with the NWT boys able to hold off in the second half for the win.
Head Coach Aaron Wells spoke post-game:
“It’s a big accomplishment for us, I know the coaches were thinking about it a lot. We’ve been working together for 4 years and we were hoping to beat a province. We unfortunately couldn’t do that but to come off of this tournament with a win is special. I’m proud of these guys.”
Team NWT Track and Field standout, Skylar Horton, gets all of the focus today.
Horton will be competing in the Long Jump Finals. She qualified on Monday with her jump of 5.08m.
The Long Jump Finals begin at 1:20 pm.
