Yellowknife man charged after laptops taken from Tree of Peace

A Yellowknife man is facing multiple charges in connection with the theft of laptops from the Tree of Peace Friendship Centre last month.

RCMP say up to 12 Acer laptops were stolen from the building on 51 Street sometime between Dec. 17 and Dec.18.

On Thursday, police announced that Lloyd Thrasher had been charged with two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000 and one count of breaching a probation order.

The 29-year-old is also facing a range of other charges in connection with a break and enter in the city’s downtown area two weeks ago.

Thrasher is well known to police, having been convicted of stabbing a pet dog to death in the city over five years ago.

He’s scheduled to make a court appearance regarding his latest charges on Friday.
