Yellowknife’s Leela Gilday will go up against Tanya Tagaq at this year’s Juno awards.

Gilday (pictured) and former Yellowknife resident Tagaq are two of the nominees for Aboriginal Album of the Year, for Heart of the People and Animism respectively.

Animism won Tagaq the $30,000 Polaris Music Prize last year, while Gilday picked up a Juno in 2007.
