Fuel tanker pulled out of ice near Deline after almost a month

The fuel tanker that had been half submerged in ice near Deline for almost a month was pulled onto the surface Wednesday afternoon.

The territorial department of transportation confirmed the news on its Twitter account.

The truck was bound for Deline when it went through the ice on Great Bear Lake on March 5.

In the days following the incident, crews delicately removed thousands of litres of fuel from it so that it wouldn’t spill into the lake.

It’s still not clear what caused the truck to go through.
