Hay River taxi driver charged with impaired driving

A cab driver has been charged with impaired driving in Hay River.

Police arrested the woman shortly after 1am on Tuesday.

“Hay River RCMP received a complaint from the public of a taxi cab that was stuck in a snowbank,” said Cst Samuel Holm, RCMP South District media liaison.

“Members attended and subsequently arrested a 41-year-old female for impaired care and control of a motor vehicle.

“The subject provided breath samples at the detachment. The results of those samples were approximately four times the legal limit, which is very alarming.”

The driver was later released and is set to appear in court on March 7.

RCMP couldn’t confirm who reported the incident. When approached by Moose FM, Hay River operator Reliable Cabs declined to comment.
