NWT Fire reported that there is one new wildfire in the North Slave region. The wildfire was spotted yesterday and is located about 12 km southeast of Blatchford Lake Lodge and about 0.5 km from the north shore of Great Slave Lake. Officials report that the wildfire was estimated to be about four hectares in size.
“Crews and aircraft have arrived at Blatchford Lake Lodge and will use this as a base of operations. They will continue their initial attack to limit the fire’s growth. There is no threat to values in the area at this time,” said officials.
More information on the wildfire will be available from NWT Fire soon. Currently, there are no evacuation notices, alerts, or orders related to this wildfire.
