Weledeh Catholic School will reopen tomorrow (May 6) but École St. Patrick High School will remain closed until further notice, Yellowknife Catholic Schools announced this afternoon. The closures come at the heels of a measles case confirmation in the city of Yellowknife.
“(W)e have been able to verify an adequate number of staff at Weledeh Catholic School have proof of measles vaccination, and will reopen tomorrow,” said Yellowknife Catholic Schools in a statement released on social media and on their website this afternoon.
École St. Patrick High School will remain closed for the time being while more information is being collected.
“École St. Patrick High School continues to collect information on vaccination proof of the staff and will remain closed to students tomorrow, May 6, 2025,” said the board in their announcement today at about 4 p.m.
The board concluded their announcement by emphasizing the importance of safety and co-operation with measles precautions.
“The health and safety of our students, staff and school community continue to remain our top priority. We ask their families follow the direction of the Chief Public Health Officer.”
