Confirmed measles case temporarily closes Weledeh Catholic School, École St. Patrick High School on Monday

Yellowknife Catholic Schools officials say the decision to temporarily close both Weledeh Catholic School and École St. Patrick High School was done out of precaution, due to a confirmed case of measles.

Superintendent Adam Muray said in a statement posted on social media on Sunday, that the facilities will be closed Monday to allow for the division to verify that enough staff have proof of measles vaccination to ensure they can safely operate the schools, as per the direction of the Chief Medical Officer of Health.

“The health and safety of our students, staff and school community remain our top priority,” the statement continues.

It’s expected board members will update the situation on Monday afternoon.
