Inuvik RCMP Report That Telecommunications Disruption is Now Resolved

Inuvik RCMP is advising residents that an issue affecting cellular to landline calls in the community has been resolved.

Calls to Inuvik RCMP have resumed and the RCMP reports that the public no longer needs to attend the detachment in person in case of emergency.

Earlier in the day, the Inuvik RCMP had advised the public that a telecommunications outage was affecting cellular to landline calls in the community. They warned that emergency phone service to the detachment had potentially been impacted.

The Inuvik RCMP had asked anyone requesting police assistance to attend the detachment in person while this problem was being solved.

“In case of emergency, the public can also attend the Town of Inuvik Municipal Enforcement Office or the Fire Department,” said the Inuvik RCMP in the announcement today.

Inuvik RCMP had also increased the number of patrols in the community and asked members of the public to flag them down if they needed assistance.

The RCMP also reported that Northwestel was working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
