GNWT Recognizes National Addictions Awareness Week

The GNWT is recognizing National Addictions Awareness Week.

The week of November 24th to the 30th is used as an opportunity for the public to learn about prevention and harm reduction, as well as treatments and the journey of recovery. This event takes place every year across the country, and the theme for this year is “Forging Connections.”

This event encourages people to reflect on the ways that different addictions can affect families and communities, as well as the individual. Throughout the week, Northern residents are encouraged to use #NAAW2024 in their social media posts, and share with their communities the different ways that they are helping to fight against addictions.

Anyone who needs personal support can reach out to the community counsellor, wellness worker, local health centre, or contact 811 to speak with a registered nurse to get the help they need.
