An individual in Norman Wells is in custody and facing serious assault charges.
On September 22nd, Norman Wells RCMP were informed that someone had been stabbed at a local residence. Further investigation into the matter had determined that a serious confrontation had taken place, and that another person had been shot with a crossbow and bear-sprayed. Both victims had been transported out of the community to receive medical attention.
Police were able to locate and arrest 23-year-old Teagan Sutherland, who is now facing charges of:
- Breaking and Entering with intent
- Disguised with intent to commit an offence
- Two counts of uttering threats
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and
- Aggravated assault
In addition to this incident, Sutherland had an active warrant out for his arrest after a separate case on September 11th. The prior incident means that Sutherland is also facing charges of:
- Breaking and Entering with intent
- Two counts of being Disguised with intent to commit an offence
- Two counts of Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Two counts of Assault with a weapon, and
- Uttering threats against a person
Sutherland has appeared before a Justice of the Peace, and is set to appear in court on September 25th.
The investigation into these cases is ongoing.
