Two Saskatchewan Youths Arrested in Fort Providence

The Fort Providence RCMP recently seized a number of drug supplies, as well as cash and a firearm.

On August 30th, officers were informed of two suspicious individuals who were loitering around a local business in Fort Providence. Once officers arrived, they found that both individuals had active warrants out for their arrest.

Once the suspects were in custody, officers were able to seize around 108 grams of suspected crack-cocaine, as well as $1,220 in cash, a firearm and ammunition, and other drug trafficking supplies.

The two suspects are youths from Saskatchewan, aged 16 and 17. They are now both facing various charges:

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition without a license
  • Two counts of carrying a concealed weapon
  • Two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and
  • Two counts of careless use of a firearm

The 16-year-old subject is facing an additional 3 counts of failure to comply with a probation order, while the 17-year-old is facing one additional count of possession of a weapon contrary to a court order. The two suspects have already appeared before a Justice of the Peace, and remain in custody at this time.
