Two Men Facing Charges after Yellowknife Home Invasion

Four people have been arrested after a home invasion took place in Yellowknife.

On August 24th, Yellowknife officers were informed that a group of masked individuals were attempting to gain access to an occupied home within the city. Officers quickly arrived at the location and arrested the suspects after a brief altercation. A handgun was located and seized just after the arrest.

Yellowknife’s RCMP General Investigation Unit is carrying on the investigation into this matter. Two of the arrested subjects are currently facing multiple charges.

28-year-old Suleiman Abdow of Edmonton has been charged with:

  • Resisting/obstructing a peace officer
  • 3 counts of Failure to comply with release order conditions
  • Mischief under $5000
  • Fail to comply with probation order conditions
  • Disguised with intent to commit an offence

32-year-old Joshua Desjarlais of Yellowknife has been charged with:

  • Two counts of Resisting/obstructing a peace officer
  • Fail to comply with release order conditions
  • Mischief over $5000
  • Disguised with intent to commit an offence

Both suspects have appeared before a Justice of the Peace, and are currently being held in custody. The other two suspects were released by the police.
