Transportation Safety Board Investigating Helicopter Crash

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has officially launched an investigation into the recent helicopter crash near Fort Good Hope.

Fort Good Hope RCMP were initially informed of the crash around 2:00 pm on June 28th. NWT Fire were able to confirm that the crash took place during wildfire management operations. There has been no word yet about the condition of the pilot, who was the sole occupant.

Shortly after the crash was confirmed, the Transportation Safety Board announced that they have officially deployed a team of investigators to look into the incident. The TSB is an independent agency that investigates air, marine, pipeline, and railway transportation accidents. Their sole purpose is to make these methods of transportation more safe, and it is not their role to assign fault or criminal liability.

The TSB had previously been contacted to investigate the cause of an Air Tindi plane crash that had occurred last December.
