Hay River RCMP recently conducted a search at a local residence as part of a firearm investigation.
The search was executed early in the morning on June 4th, and was aided by the Northwest Territories RCMP Critical Incident Program. During the search, officers found twenty-four grams of cocaine, as well as around $3,700 in cash, and additional evidence of drug trafficking, though no firearms were located and that part of the investigation is ongoing.
Two individuals have been arrested and charged in connection to this investigation.
30-year-old Shaquan Francis-Davis from Ontario has been charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking;
- Possession of the proceeds of crime;
- Assault with a weapon;
- Pointing a firearm;
- Fail to Comply with Release conditions; specifically, a condition that he reside in Ontario.
35-year-old Donald Lafleur from Hay River has been charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking;
- Possession of the proceeds of crime;
- Fail to Comply with release conditions.
Two other Hay River men have been arrested in this case, and are currently awaiting a court date. A fifth person was also arrested, but has since been released without charges.
