A new fire reported near Paradise Road and Paradise Gardens has impacted impacting outbound traffic from Hay River to Enterprise, prompting officials to urge anyone left in Hay River to evacuate to the Hay River airport for transport by air out of the region.
As part of it’s 7:15 p.m. wildfire update, the Town of Hay River says while they still plan to evacuate those left in the community, the airport will also act as a designated location if a shelter in place is needed.
All other evacuees are being urged to head to northwestern Alberta, with NWT officials in touch with their municipal counterparts in place like High Level, Grande Prairie and Peace River, in order to confirm details about welcoming centres. As of 8 p.m, Sunday, those headed to Grande Prairie are being asked to head to the reception centre at the the Alliance Church, located at 15502 102 St, Grande Prairie.
