NWT Fire has announced an evacuation alert for cabin and homeowners between kilometre markers 284 and 306 near Boundary Creek.
Anyone is the area is encouraged to be prepared to leave on short notice due to the planned ignition set to take place this afternoon.
According to NWT Fire, south eastern winds are in optimal direction for the operation, risk management and weather conditions will inform the decision of whether to evacuate the area.
NWT Fire has issued a Notice To Airmen/Missions (NOTAM) for the skies above the area to provide pilots with any information regarding potential hazards during this process.
Yellowknife and Dettah/N’Dilo are still not under any risk.
