At around 6:25pm on June 21st, Inuvik RCMP received a report of an electronic SOS indicating a cyclist had been struck and killed by a truck near Rangling River on Dempster Highway.
Inuvik RCMP attended the scene of the accident along with the Inuvik Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services. A 64-year-old woman was found deceased upon arrival.
NT RCMP Traffic Services collision analyst was called to the scene and is supporting the investigation. The causal factors for the crash have yet to be determined as the investigation is in the early stages. No charges have been laid yet.
Inuvik RCMP are also assisting the NWT Coroner Services with an official investigation. NT RCMP sends its deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased woman.
