Two Arrested after Fort Simpson Cocaine Seizure

On September 14, Fort Simpson RCMP, with assistance from Yellowknife Detachment, began an investigation after information was received from the public regarding the trafficking of cocaine.

Fort Simpson Detachment members were able to locate the suspect vehicle at the ferry crossing and arrest the occupants for Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. The vehicle was searched incidental to arrest and approximately 30 grams of cocaine were seized.

A 26-year-old male and a 35-year-old female were arrested and remain in custody pending charges being sworn.

Inspector Dean Riou, Officer in Charge of the “G” Division South District, called the case “another example of the public assisting the police in improving community wellness by providing specific, timely information regarding illicit substances entering our communities.”

Anyone who has information about drug trafficking or any other serious crime is asked to contact their local RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
