A fire ban will be in place for the City of Yellowknife as of 5 p.m. Wednesday until further notice.
The fire rating for Yellowknife is currently at extreme due to incredibly dry conditions. The ban means all open-air burning, and the discharge of fireworks is completely prohibited.
However, things like camp stoves, enclosed barbecues, approved propane-fueled appliances as well as outdoor propane-fueled burners used for heating and/or cooking, provided they are operated on within a fire pit
