Planned two hour power outage for Hay River Wednesday

NWT Power Corporation is notifying Hay River customers that there will be a planned two hour power outage in the town, tomorrow Wednesday June 11.

In a social media post last week the power corporation announced that the outage will take place between 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. MT on June 6

Doug Prendergast, who is the communications manager at NWT’s Power Corporation said the outage will affect “the area of Paradise Way.”

“The planned outage is scheduled for an area known as Paradise Gardens, which is located on the outskirts of Hay River. There are about 12 – 15 customers who will be impacted,” said Prendergast.

The outage is being scheduled to replace infrastructure on the road and expand the power line, explained NWT Power representatives.

“The outage is necessary to allow installation of a new power pole that will allow power to be extended to a new customer and for the work to be done safely by our line crew,” said Prendergast.

NWT Power Corp officials pointed out that the planned outage may be affected by weather conditions and other factors.
