One suspect is in custody and two are at large after Fort Smith RCMP responded to an armed home invasion on May 5. RCMP have issued photos to the public of the two men and are asking that the public not approach them, but contact police if they have any information.

Fort Smith RCMP report that one person is in custody while arrest warrants have been issued for two others who remain at large. The arrest and arrest warrants stem from a reported home invasion with a firearm last week in Fort Smith.
RCMP report that the incident happened shortly before 2:00 a.m. on May 5.
Fort Smith RCMP received a report that three men had broken into a home on St. Ann’s Street in Fort Smith and threatened to shoot the occupant approximately two hours prior to the call. A gun was reported to have been waved by one of the suspects during the incident.
RCMP reported that a victim escaped from the residence unharmed.
Due to the time delay before the call to police was placed, the suspects were not immediately located.
On May 8, one of the suspects, a 24-year-old man was arrested without incident in Fort Smith and is currently facing these charges:
- Breaking and entering, contrary to section 348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
- Uttering threats against a person, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
- Uttering threats against an animal, contrary to section 264.1(1) of the Criminal Code
- Mischief under $5000, contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code
- Intimidation, contrary to section 423(1) of the Criminal Code
- Using a firearm in the commission of an offence, contrary to section 85(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
The man appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody.
The remaining two suspects, 28-year-old Deonne Bourke and 25-year-old Tristan Mercredi have active warrants for their arrest and each face the above charges as well as additional charges as outlined below:
Bourke:
- Failure to comply with undertaking conditions, contrary to section 145(4)(a) of the Criminal Code
Mercredi:
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, contrary to section 88(1) of the Criminal Code
- Carrying a concealed weapon, contrary to section 90(1) of the Criminal code
- Possession of a firearm while knowing possession is unauthorized, contrary to section 92(1) of the Criminal code
- Possession of a weapon contrary to a weapons prohibition order, contrary to section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code
- 3 counts of failure to comply with a probation order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code
“This matter is believed to be isolated, with all involved parties being known to each other. Additional resources including members of the Territorial Crime Reduction Unit, Police Dog Services and extra general duty officers have been engaged,” said the RCMP in an announcement today.
