A 14-year-old girl is currently in the custody of Fort Good Hope RCMP after a weekend incident that resulted in the death of a woman.
Just before noon on March 23rd, local officers were informed that a stabbing had taken place at a local residence. Once officers arrived, they found the victim with severe injuries, and despite having her transported to the local health centre for aid, she was unable to be saved.
The 14-year-old girl, unable to be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was quickly taken into custody and brought before a Justice of the Peace. She remains in custody until another court appearance on March 25th.
The further investigation of this incident is being led by the “G” Division Major Crimes Unit, with help from both the Office of the Chief Coroner, and the Forensic Identification Services.
