Two longtime volunteers with Habitat for Humanity NWT have just received some notable commendations.
The two volunteers are Robert Charpentier and Dave Brothers, both of whom have been awarded with the King Charles III Coronation medal. This medal is made to honour Canadian citizens who have exhibited outstanding levels of volunteerism and leadership in their communities.
Robert Charpentier has been working alongside Habitat NWT for many years, and has been their longest running board member. He has spent hours upon hours helping to manage the group’s finances and budgets, and helping to provide financial direction to keep the group on track.
Dave Brothers has helped to manage Habitat’s construction projects by working with contractors, heading up negotiations on discounts, and looking into the viability of potential lots. He has managed projects in Yellowknife, Hay River and Dettah, and Habitat NWT believes that without Dave, they would not have been able to complete as many builds as they have in the last several years.
Alex Davidson, the Board Chair of Habitat NWT, spoke highly on both men and on the impact they have had.
“Both Robert and Dave have continued to go above and beyond for more than a decade in their volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity Northwest Territories, and this honour recognizes their dedication, commitment and impact they have had on our organization, our homeowners, and the territory. We’re proud and fortunate that they have continuously given their time, energy, and skills to make a difference.”
