The Yellowknife Airport is experiencing a healthy increase in the number of passengers they’ve been servicing.
In reviewing their passenger traffic over the last year, the YZF Yellowknife Airport has shared the report that they saw an eighteen percent increase in passengers in 2024 compared to the previous year. It is believed that this growth represents the growing status of Yellowknife as a desirable destination and tourism hub in the North.
Throughout the entire year, the airport saw an estimated total of 604,000 passengers. The GNWT claims that this growth is driven by an increase in travel between Northern regions, as well as expanded airline routes, an increased frequency in flights, and a greater interest in tourism and business opportunities.
In the future, YZF is hoping to keep this growth going by improving airport facilities and infrastructure to improve convenience and comfort. They are also looking into redesigning their website, restructuring the terminal parking lot, and update their preboarding screening process.
