The GNWT is looking into new avenues to help support non-profit organizations and other charitable groups.
In an effort to improving access to healthcare, trauma support, and community collaboration, the GNWT is reviewing some of the feedback they received in the 2023 Strengthening the Non-Profit and Charitable Sector External Advisory Committee Report to see if there are any ways that they can provide help to charitable groups and non-governmental organizations.
This effort is being lead by the Department of Executive and Indigenous Affairs, and they have already identified several challenges that can be addressed. Some of these obstacles are focused on factors like the GNWT’s funding process, multi-year funding agreements, and building proper relationships between different NGO’s and the government itself.
After going over some of the findings from this effort, the GNWT is looking into how it can possibly streamline their funding process, improve coordination between government departments, and build better engagement methods with the NGOs.
