Fort Smith RCMP Investigating Drive-by Shooting & Vehicle Fire

The Fort Smith RCMP are seeking the public’s help to help resolve several incidents that occurred over the February 15th weekend.

Just after 5:00am on February 15th, officers were informed that several shots had been fired from a vehicle into a residence on Field Street. The vehicle then quickly fled the scene. This is believed to be a targeted attack.

Just a few moments after that incident, officers were called to respond to a vehicle fire at the intersection of Klondike Avenue and Raven Street. By the time officers arrived, the vehicle was fully engulfed in fire. The situation was resolved when the flame was extinguished by the Fort Smith Fire Department. The vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

No injuried have been reported from either event, and police believe that both of these matters are related and linked to the local drug trade. No arrests have been made at this time, and police are asking for any information to be brought to their attention.

Residents who may have security camera in the areas of Field Street, Klondike Avenue, and Raven Street are asked to look over any footage for suspicious activity, particularly from 4:45am to 5:15am.

Any information can be sent to the Fort Smith RCMP at 872-1111.

This investigation is being supported by the Territorial Crime Reduction Unit, Forensic Identification Services, and Police Dog Services.
