A series of nine earthquakes this morning off the coast of northern California included one magnitude 7 quake, originally prompting a tsunami warning.
The danger is now past, according to the US Tsunami Warning System, which has called off the warning which originally extended up the Oregon coastline.
The largest quake happened at around 10:44 this morning offshore and southwest of Eureka, according to the US Geological Survey. It happened at a depth of less than one kilometre, and was followed by eight more weaker earthquakes for the next hour.
They follow a 5.6 magnitude and several other smaller quakes across Alaska last night.
No damages were reported and none are expected from any of the quakes.
