Yellowknife now has a new dedicated location for pet supplies.
On Wednesday, November 27th, the ribbon was cut at the grand opening of The Bone and Biscuit in Yellowknife. While several dogs were present at the store for the event, the task of cutting the ribbon had to be left to those with opposable thumbs.

Joel Church, one of the owners and operators of the store was excited for the official launch of the store. “It was amazing! Now we get to integrate into the community and hopefully give the people and their furry friends what they want.”
Church explained that the main drive behind opening the store was to provide pet owners with better selections for pet food that are better for the health of the animals.

“Just like with human food, you have all kinds of sugars and things like that, so we try to carry the best lines that have a lot less of it and that are more rich in protein. We set high standards, so it makes it a lot easier to deal with that way.”
Church added that the shop is looking into having customizable items added to the store in the future, such as leashes, and they have also considered the idea of offering a grooming service. They are also hoping to work alongside the SPCA and the City government on the possibility of creating a new dog park.

In the meantime, the Bone and Biscuit still offers plenty of varieties of dog and cat food, as well as grooming supplies, nutritional aids, and of course, all the toys any pet could ever need.
