A number of individuals were arrested in Hay River following a firearm investigation.
A picture of a firearm was posted on a local social media page which hinted to drug trafficking taking place at an apartment building on Woodland Drive. Officers were able to identify the apartment and obtained a search warrant for the location. The search was conducted on November 22nd.
Five individuals were found inside the apartment and quickly arrested. The following search turned up around 17 grams of suspected crack-cocaine, and 14 grams of suspected fentanyl. Also discovered was a handgun with ammunition, and more than $3,000 in cash.
Four of the individuals were released without charge. However, the fifth suspect, 39-year-old Savy You of Toronto, Ontario, received numerous charges.
