The GNWT is about to conduct a test of the territory wide Emergency Alert System.
NWT Alert is the public alerting system for the Territory, and will be sounding on November 20th at 1:55pm on all mobile devices, cable networks, and radio stations.
NWT Alert is designed to keep residents and visitors safe and informed during emergency situations, and is part of a larger system known as Alert Ready. This system is a partnership between a wide range of emergency management officials, Environment Canada, and the broadcast industry.
Depending on compatibility and connection, some Northern residents may not receive the alert on their wireless devices. Residents are encouraged to check their device’s compatibility with their service providers, and make sure their devices are up to date.
