Hay River’s swimming pool is set to reopen on August 31.
The pool had been closed for months during the town workers’ strike, which came to an end earlier this month.
Now, the town says staff are working hard to have the pool back in action.
In a statement posted online, town mayor Andrew Cassidy said: “Typically, an annual shut-down occurs mid-fall to undertake a thorough cleaning and preventative maintenance program on all mechanical equipment.
“This year, the shut-down has been scheduled to coincide with staff returning to work as the facilities require additional work after a prolonged inactive stage.”
The pool should remain open from the end of August until the next annual shut-down in fall 2016, according to the mayor.
Cassidy added that the town’s ice surfaces are tentatively pencilled in to open earlier than usual, on September 16.
