While investigating a reported assault, Inuvik RCMP discovered a number of drug trafficking supplies within the community.
Inuvik officers were first informed of the assault at around 3:00pm on November 4th. When they arrived at the relevant residence, they found the supplies in a bedroom. A lone man was also found hiding in a closet in possession of suspected cocaine in 93 baggies, cash, and various other items.
More money, trafficking supplies, and a modified .22 pump action rifle were found in the room. The rifle was loaded and had a filed serial number.
Christ Nagateka of Edmonton is facing the following charges:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of the Proceeds of Crime
- Tampering with the Serial Number of a Firearm
- Possession of a Restricted Firearm
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, and
- Unsafe Storage of a Firearm.
This incident is still under investigation. Any additional information on this matter can be reported to the Inuvik RCMP.
