The ongoing staffing shortage at the Inuvik Regional Hospital has seen an improvement.
The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority has reported that the IRH has been able to temporarily boost their staffing levels, meaning that the suspension in obstetrics and delivery services has been modified.
As of November 4th, the suspension in delivery services that was first announced in September will be lifted until December 14th. On the 15th, the suspension will have to be reinstated, and will last until at least January 11th. During that time, the NTHSSA will continue to search for qualified obstetric staff to fill the vacant positions.
