Whati RCMP are currently investigating a small Assault case that occurred in the area.
On October 6th, local officers were informed that two people had been shot, but instead of a conventional firearm, the suspects instead used a pellet gun. Officers arrived on the scene and located the victims, who were taken in for medical treatment.
The suspects had already fled the scene in a vehicle, but officers from the Behchoko attachment were able to intercept them and arrest the occupants. All 4 people in the vehicle have since been released on strict conditions.
The RCMP believes that this was a targeted incident, and that the public is not in danger. No charges have been laid at this time, and the matter remains under investigation.
