The City of Yellowknife will soon be adding new routes to the public transportation services, as well as additional updates.
Formerly known as Yellowknife Conventional Transit, the recently renamed YKTransit will be receiving new routes, schedules, and fare rates, all of which will be coming into effect on October 1st. The new changes being made come as a result of several periods of review and restructuring projects which focussed on identifying challenges within the transit system and addressing them.
One of the new bus routes include the YK Connector, which will offer service every 30 minutes to key locations around the city at peak hours. Stops on this route include Stanton Territorial Hospital, Old Town, Ndilo, the Ruth Inch Memorial Pool and downtown. The Connector route will also mike two stops per day on weekdays to Kam Lake.
A 2024 Transit Rider’s Guide, which lays out the changes being made, is available for download on the City website.
