Five People Arrested in Inuvik for Drug Trafficking

Inuvik RCMP recently conducted several search warrants within the community.

The began on July 18th, when Inuvik officers began a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Investigation on two apartments that were suspected to be involved in drug trafficking. Search warrants for both apartments were applied for and granted.

The searches were properly conducted on July 21st. Five people were arrested, and officers were able to seize around 70 grams of suspected crack-cocaine, 70 grams of illicit cannabis, and over $76,000 in cash that is believed to be the proceeds of crime.

All five of the individuals that were arrested are now facing various charges.

38-year-old Jolene Andre of Inuvik, 43-year-old Willie Inglangasuk of Inuvik, 21-year-old Krystian Cogswell of British Columbia, 20-year-old Yousha Nayyar of Ontario have all been charged with:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking,
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000

The fifth suspect is a 17-year-old male from Alberta is facing the same charges, but cannot be named due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

All arrested persons appeared before a Justice of the Peace and were remanded into custody.
