Fort Good Hope Man Charged with Murder in Stabbing Incident

A man in Fort Good Hope has received murder charges after a fatal stabbing incident.

Police were informed of the incident on June 15th, when they were told that a stabbing had taken place at a residence within the community. The victim had suffered serious injuries and was quickly taken to the hospital, and later moved out of the community via medivac.

The suspect was quickly located and arrested without incident. He was initially held in RCMP cells before an evacuation order was issued for the area. Under those circumstances, the suspect was released from custody under the strict orders that he appear in court at a later date to answer to a charge of aggravated assault.

The victim of the stabbing would later die from their injuries on June 28th.

The suspect, 53-year-oldFloyd Kakfwi of Fort Good Hope, was arrested on July 22nd and charged with 2nd degree murder. He has already appeared before a Justice of the Peace, and has been remanded into custody for another court appearance.
