Little Buffalo visitors urged to leave as crews battle wildfire near Fort Resolution

Yesterday, around 9 p.m., NWT Fire posted on Facebook that there were reports of smoke south of Fort Resolution near Little Buffalo. The reports have been verified and confirmed, and there are currently two active wildfires south of the community.

SS040 is located 22km south of Fort Resolution or 4.5km south of Little Buffalo, occupying an area of 13 hectares. SS042 is situated 2.7km east of SS040 with an area of 0.1 hectares.

Currently, Fort Resolution is not at risk. It has been recommended that individuals living, camping, or staying at their cabins in and around Little Buffalo evacuate as a precaution—no official evacuation notice or order has been issued.

NWT Fire says there will be an update by 5 p.m. today.
