A man in Hay River has received several charges after striking an individual with their car.
The incident took place on Woodland Drive in Hay River on July 8th, where the vehicle quickly fled the scene. The victim had sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.
The suspect was quickly located and taken into custody without incident. The police investigation determined that the victim and the suspect were acquaintances, and had an argument before the accident.
As a result, the 38-year-old driver has been charged with:
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm,
- Assault with a Weapon, and
- Failure to Remain at the Scene of an Accident.
The suspect has been released, and is set to appear in Hay River Territorial Court on August 26th.
