A fire ban has been implemented for MacKinnon Territorial Park, Norman Wells, due to a regional fire danger, prohibiting open fires. This ban is in effect immediately and will continue until August 1, 2024, alongside any existing regional fire bans enforced by NWT Fire.
Camp stoves, enclosed barbecues, and propane-fueled cooking and heating devices are allowed within NWT Parks, provided they are used within regulation fire pits and the flame does not exceed 0.5 metres in diameter and height.
