City looking for feedback on changes to land use and development zoning by-law

The City of Yellowknife is inviting you to provide input on a proposed amendment to Zoning By-law No. 5045, which governs land use and development.

The amendment proposes the creation of two new residential zones: Residential Intensification (RI) and RI-1, along with some related changes. It is important to note that no property will be pre-zoned as part of this amendment. The aim of this amendment is to enable medium-density residential development, thereby increasing the housing supply.

Residents can submit their feedback through a discussion forum and survey on PlaceSpeak from June 14 to July 5, 2024. After the public input is gathered and reviewed, a draft amendment will be proposed to the City Council. Following the council’s first reading of the proposed amendment, there will be a chance for residents to offer further feedback directly to the council at a public hearing. Additional information regarding the public hearing will be made available as the process moves forward.
