The City of Yellowknife has shared additional wildfire safety information over on their website.
The new information is all divided into five key categories; Wildfire Updates, Prevention and Mitigation, Preparing for an Evacuation, Evacuation Information, and Health and Safety Tips.
The information is being shared to make sure that local residents have everything they need to prepare themselves and their families for the upcoming wildfire season.
Along with the new information, the City is working on updating the Community Emergency Plan, and is also working on developing an all-hazards Evacuation Plan. This update will draw ideas from the After Action Assessment of the City’s 2023 wildfire response currently being conducted by KMPG. Once they’re ready, both the updated Community Emergency Plan, and the new Evacuation Plan will be shared to the City’s website.
Additionally, the final report from the After Action Assessment is expected to be released sometime in July.
