The wind and rising temperatures have heightened the fire risk for today and tomorrow. Currently, the wind is veering in a south-to-southwest direction at 10 km/h, with gusts reaching 20 km/h. These winds and temperatures potentially reaching 18 degrees, with clear skies, and low humidity may lead to increased fire activity in areas not yet burned. Tomorrow’s forecast anticipates similar conditions, with temperatures expected to rise to 17 degrees and winds blowing from the southwest.
As per the latest information, the fire has not advanced towards Fort Liard and remains on the western bank of the Liard River, away from the community.
Additional support from Yukon is anticipated later this week, while resources from across the Northwest Territories were deployed over the weekend. Fire containment efforts continue, with protective measures and controlled bush burning to remove potential fuel, which is now approximately 75 per cent complete.
