Sheila Bassi-Kellett reappointed as Yellowknife City Manager

At last night’s council meeting, Sheila Bassi-Kellett was reappointed as the city manager for Yellowknife. Mayor Alty expressed gratitude to Bassi-Kellett for stepping in again during the recruitment period, adding, “Hopefully we can have a full time city manager soon.”

Deputy Mayor Garett Cochrane thanked John Collins for his service to the city. Collins departed from his position as city manager to take on the same role in Thunder Bay.

Cochrane says he enjoyed the opportunity to work closely with Collins during his brief tenure as acting mayor, and he has been deeply impressed by Collins’ leadership skills and integrity.

He shared his disappointment, echoed by others in the chamber, that they would no longer benefit from Collins’ wise sayings, affectionately termed ‘John-isms’. Cochrane concluded by stating, “wherever life leads him, I trust he will continue in a leadership role, as he is undoubtedly destined for it.”
